Bosnian Amira Medunjanin, better known as just Amira, is sometimes dubbed the
Billie Holiday of Bosnia. In fact, she upholds the century-old tradition of
sevdah, which is akin to saudade and blues, a typically Slavic melancholy. Amira
launched her career in 2003 with A Secret Gate, followed in 2005 by Rosa. Her
fame grew with Zumra in 2009, on which she collaborated with accordionist Merima
Klujco. The same year, Amira released Live, recorded live. In October 2011,
Amira dazzled the world with Amulettes, recorded with pianist Bojan Z.
