Hailing from South West London, Anna Calvi cuts a strikingly glamorous figure
while playing her dark, brooding, leftfield pop. She grew up in a musical
household to Italian parents, learning violin and guitar and listening to
everyone from Jimi Hendrix to Édith Piaf and Ravi Shankar. Signed to Domino
Records in 2009 on the recommendation of The Coral guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones,
Brian Eno became her mentor and she was named on the BBC Sound of 2011
shortlist.
