Ari Hoenig is a fiery, melodic jazz drummer on the New York scene, whose
reputation has grown steadily since the early 2000s. Since 2002, with his Ari
Hoenig Quartet, he has become the ambassador of punk bop, a blend of hard bop
and free jazz. He has also made a name for himself alongside pianist Jean Michel
Pilc (the Hoenig-Pilc Project). He is also an arranger and composer, with six
albums to his name, from his debut Time Travels (2000) and The Painter (2004) to
Lines of oppression, released in 2011 by Naïve.
