Born in Paris on April 7, 1961, guitarist, songwriter and singer Axel Bauer
enjoyed success in the 1980s, notably with the hit "Cargo " (1983), adapted a
few years later by Roger Daltrey, lead singer of English band The Who. The song
also owes its fame to the music video directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, set in
a setting inspired by Rainer Werner Fassbinder's film Querelle. After this
dazzling debut, the artist continued in this rock-song vein with the albums Les
Nouveaux Seigneurs (1987) and Sentinelles (1990). He regained a strong following
in 1992 with his second hit, "Éteins...
