Initially started in 1996 as a college project by Stuart Murdoch and Stuart
David, the Glasgow-based Scottish band Belle and Sebastian became cult indie
favourites famed for delicate melodies and meandering tales of adolescent
awkwardness, teenage romance, and everyday tedium. Inspired by a love of The
Smiths, Nick Drake, and Edwyn Collins, Murdoch spent years crafting his songs
before the limited edition release of debut album Tigermilk (1996) soon became a
