Jazz guitarist Ben Monder is renowned in his field for using his classical
influences in his interpretation of contemporary jazz. Initially studying the
violin, he switched to the guitar at the age of eleven. His debut album, 'Flux',
was released in 1995 and featured bassist Drew Gress and drummer Jim Black. He
followed this with 'No Boat' with Theo Bleckmann in 1997, 'Dust' (1997),
'Excavation' (2000) and 'Oceana' (2005).
Recorded in 2001, he released an improvisational collaboration with saxophonist
