Benny B.
Born on December 11, 1968 in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean around Brussels, it was under
the name Benny B that Abdel Hamid Gharbaoui first came to public attention.
Introduced to the hip-hop scene in 1985, the young Belgian gradually abandoned
his chocolate-making training to pursue a career in music. Meeting DJ Daddy K in
1987, then Perfect, with whom he formed the group Benny-B, proved decisive in
Gharbaoui's aesthetic evolution. By 1989, the trio were at the forefront of
Belgian rap with their first hits, including "Vous Êtes Foustes", "Qu'Est-Ce
Qu'On Fait Maintenant" and "Dis-Moi Béb...
