Australian singer and musician Bernard Fanning was born on August 15, 1969 in
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He began his music career at a young age,
learning to play the piano from his mother and composing his own songs by the
age of 15. After studying journalism in college, Fanning dropped out to pursue a
career in music, forming the alternative rock band Powderfinger in 1989 with
guitarist Ian Haug, bassist John Collins, and drummer Steven Bishop, with
