Born in 1963 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Beverley Craven grew up in England, where
she embarked on a singing career after working as a backing singer for soul
singer Bobby Womack. She was not yet twenty when her debut album of the same
name was released in 1990, selling over a million copies and boosted by the
success of "Promise Me", which reached No. 3 in the UK. Thereafter, the British
