Contemporary Christian rock band Big Daddy Weave formed whilst at college in Mobile, Alabama, USA in 1998. Charismatic lead singer and songwriter Mike Weaver had been the worship leader at a church in Florida, when he was encouraged by the pastor to study voice at the University of Mobile. Together with fellow band members Jay Weaver, Joe Shirk, Jeremy Redmon and Jeff Jones forming Big Daddy Weave, they released their first album 'Neighbourhoods' independently in 2001 before being signed by Fervent Records.
