Country music singer, songwriter, and musician Billy Currington was born on November 19, 1973, in Savannah, Georgia. Interested in country music at a young age, while he was in high school, he auditioned for a spot at Nashville, Tennessee-based theme park Opryland. Although he failed the audition, he still moved to Nashville after graduating from high school. While working in the food industry, he recorded his first songs and began to attract label interest.
