Ackquille Jean Pollard, aka Bobby Shmurda, began his career in 2014 when his
single 'Hot N***a' launched him into the industry. Sampling Lloyd Banks's song
'Jackpot', the single and its accompanying video scored him a number one spot on
the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. He signed to Epic Records off the back of his
hit single and began work on his debut album.
In 2016, Shmurda was sentenced to seven years in prison. With an alleged parole
hearing set for 2020, rumours of new music spread for later in the year.
