Bobby Timmons was a jazz pianist, vibraphone player and composer who was closely
associated with the soul jazz movement of the 1950s. Timmons played as sideman
and band member with several jazz legends including Art Blakey, Chet Baker, Etta
James, Sonny Stitt and both Nat and Julian 'Cannonball' Adderley. He succumbed
to alcoholism and heroin addiction in 1974 having been flown back early from a
Swedish tour with Clark Terry's band.
