A drummer best known for his percussive playing with the Band of Gypsys, which
marked the end of Jimi Hendrix's whirlwind career, Buddy Miles nonetheless
pushed the boundaries of fusion between psychedelic rock and groove funk. After
his debut for the Stax label and an appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival
(1967), he took a radical turn that brought him to the forefront and exposed him
to a solo career.
