The daughter of Turkish musician Ali Güneş, Izmir-born folk-pop
singer-songwriter Burcu Güneş began performing jazz and pop songs at hotels and
resorts with her father as a teenager. In 1998, she kickstarted her own
recording career with the energetic single “Alimallah” and debut album, Aşk
Yarası, which featured contributions from prominent Turkish musicians. Güneş
made her mark with albums Tilsim (2001) and Ay Sahit (2004), which featured hit
