Carmel is as much the name of the singer Carmel McCourt as that of the band she
fronted from 1980 with Jim Parris in Manchester (England). Her debut single
"Storm ", released in 1982, topped the independent charts and landed her a
contract with London Records. Leading a jazz-pop wave with Matt Bianco, Carmel
went on to become very popular in France with the song "Sally " (1986). The
album The Falling, produced in part by Brian Eno, was also very well received in
