Many of the top-selling Italian trap and hip-hop songs of the last few years have a recurring name on the credits - Charlie Charles. The producer and DJ has worked with the likes of Sfera Ebbasta, Ghali, Tedua and Capo Plaza, as well as released a number of his own tracks.

Born in Settimo Milanese just to the west of Milan in March 1994, Charlie was in the right spot to discover the Italian hip-hop scene. He spent a lot of time at Palazzo Granaio, a hip-hop hangout where rappers would perform. Milan was also the home of other key figures from Italian trap and hip-hop, and fellow Milanese artists Ghali, Mahmood and Sfera Ebbasta went on to become important collaborators, and it was here that he began to immerse himself in the scene.

It was his work with Ebbasta on the artist's 2015 album 'XDVR' that really established Charlie in the industry, and that same year he collaborated with fellow producer Marracash on songs and albums for the likes of Ghali, Izi, Tedua, Gué, The Dark Polo Gang and Pequeno.

Since his career began in earnest in 2015 Charlie has focused primarily on production, becoming a fixture of the Italian hip-hop scene. He has periodically stepped into the limelight, however, with releases like the singles 'Bimbi' and 'Peace & Love'.

In February 2019, Charlie won accolades when 'Soldi', the track he and Dardust produced for Mahmood, won the 69th edition of the Sanremo Festival. Not long after that the three of them, along with Sfera Ebbasta and Fabri Fibra, found success again with 'Calipso' as the track hit the top of the Italian charts on April 26th then again one week later.
