Elmer Figueroa Arce, better known by his stage name Chayanne, is a Puerto Rican
Latin pop singer and actor, born on June 28, 1969, in Rio Piedras. His nickname
comes from his mother, who named him after his passion for the American TV
series Cheyenne. At the end of the 1970s, he applied to join the group Menudo,
but the producers turned him down because he was too young. He then joined Los
Chicos, which finally split up in 1984. He then decided to pursue a solo career,
signing with RCA Victor. He released his first album, Chayanne Es Mi Nombre,
followed by Sangre Latina, in 1986....
