Belgian pop group Clouseau was founded in 1984 by songwriter and drummer Bob
Savenberg, who named it after the character played by Peter Sellers in the film
series The Pink Panther. He set up the project with brothers Koen and Kim
Wauters, along with Tjen Berghmans and Karel Theys. The band released their
first single, "Brandweer," in 1987. Sales were sluggish, but the following year,
Clouseau came to prominence with "Alleen met Jou," a cover of Gordon Campbell's
"With a Woman Like You," which climbed to number 25 in the Belgian charts. In
