Born on March 13, 1982, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Darbuka Siva is Indian film
composer, actor, and director whose music blends Indian traditions with global
influences. He played drums as a teenager and began making Baul-inspired music
with his first band, Oikyotaan, in 2000. One of his bandmates, future playback
singer, Bonnie Chakraborty, became his mentor, encouraging the young Siva to
expand his approach to the drums by also playing percussion instruments like
