Edward E. Bello Pou, popularly recognized as El Cata, is a Dominican urban
artist renowned for pioneering the electro-mambow genre—an infectious blend of
merengue and hip-hop. Born on September 15, 1977, in Barahona, Dominican
Republic, he moved from the Dominican Republic to Puerto Rico at age 5, and then
to Miami, Florida. After relocating to New York, he studied music at the Bronx
