A Scottish soul starlet with a velvet voice and love of Nina Simone, Emeli Sandé
(born 10 March 1987 in Sunderland) left her medical studies at Glasgow
University to pursue her dreams of music stardom. Moving to London in 2009, she
penned songs for Cheryl Cole, Alesha Dixon, and Tinie Tempah and made her
singing debut on Chipmunk's Top 10 hit "Diamond Rings." Named by Simon Cowell as
his favourite new songwriter, Emeli Sandé reached Number 2 in the UK with her
