A hip-hop obsessive who grew up in breakdance crews and graffiti gangs in the
British West Midlands, Goldie took the mid-1990s dance scene by storm with his
electronic soundtracks to the grime, aggression and industrial isolation of the
city. Inspired by UK breakbeat and jungle DJ pioneers 4Hero, he set up his own
label Metalheadz in 1994 and ran the acclaimed Metalheadz Sunday Sessions club
nights which showcased some of the most groundbreaking drum and bass producers.
