Born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1946, Jackie Moore was a southern soul vocalist
best known for her 1970 hit “Precious, Precious”. She grew up as a fan of soul
artists such as Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight and chose to follow music as a
career. She relocated to Philadelphia, eventually signing to the independent
Shout label. Her musical career began in 1968 when she released the single “Dear
John”. After two further singles on Shout – “Why Don’t You Call on Me” and
