Known as Jonghyun, Korean pop singer-songwriter Kim Jonghyun was the lead singer
of the K-pop group SHINee, which formed in 2008 and became massively popular. He
performed with S.M. Entertainment's group SM the Ballard and also had a regular
radio programme. His death from apparent suicide on 18th December 2017 left his
huge following of fans bereft with an outpouring of grief expressed on social
media. Billboard reported that his demise sparked renewed interest in his
