Born Jordi Savall i Bernadet on August 1, 1941, in Barcelona, Spain, Jordi Savall is a highly acclaimed conductor and viol player who has won an international reputation with a large catalog of mostly Renaissance, Baroque, and medieval music. A major figure in his native Catalonia, he established his own record label, AliaVox, which produces releases combining recordings and educational booklets that explore the music and its cultural relevance. He played music as a child and studied at the Barcelona Conservatory of Music and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, Switzerland....
