Kaya
Real name Joseph Réginald Topize, Mauritian singer Kaya was born in the capital
Port-Louis on August 10, 1960, into a family of 5 children. He showed an early
interest in music, and became a huge Bob Marley fan. With friends, he founded
the group Racinetatane, which enabled him to gain notoriety and develop his
musical universe, rooted in both reggae and sega, to the point of being credited
as the inventor of seggae, a fusion of the two genres. He opened his record
