La Cliqua was an emblematic collective in the early days of hip-hop in France,
when it was formed in 1993. Linked to the Arsenal label, the collective acted
above all as a catalyst. The 1995 mini-album Conçu pour Durer was the birth
certificate of La Cliqua, while the 1996 compilation Le Vrai Hip-Hop was an
overview of the Arsenal label and the members of the collective. Their only real
album, La Cliqua in 1999, met with little success, and the La Cliqua concept
gradually disintegrated. Today, having become a respected name, La Cliqua
occasionally reunites for live performances.
