Lido Pimienta
Born in 1986 in Barranquilla, Colombia, songwriter Lido Pimienta later moved to
Canada, where her multi-genre blend of electronic pop, Afro-Colombian music, and
Latin influences helped her win the country's prestigious Polaris Music Prize in
2017. She was raised in Colombia by a multi-ethnic family and began singing in
punk bands as a teenager, before immigrating to Canada to join her mother in the
early 2000s. Settling in Toronto, Lido Pimienta married producer Michael Ramey
and began working on her 2010 debut album, Color, which was produced by her
