A reggaeton artist whose chart-topping music makes room for hip-hop, merengue,
and Latin pop influences, Magic Juan was born in the Washington Heights
neighborhood of Manhattan, New York, on August 5, 1971. He joined his elementary
school's choir at 10 years old and began rapping as a teenager. A musical
prodigy, he briefly studied at New York Institute of Technology before dropping
out of school to join the merengue band Proyecto Uno. Released in 1991, the song
