Singer with Californian country-rock band Lone Justice in the 1980s, Maria McKee went solo, disregarding commercial demands in favor of elaborate songwriting and constant renewal of her art. In a rich repertoire that combines Bruce Springsteen-style rock with refined Dusty Springfield ballads, she has scored a number of major hits, including "Show Me Heaven " (1990) and "If Love Is A Red Dress " (1994).
