Born in Manchester, England on September 11, 1983, Matthew Halsall is a jazz
trumpeter, composer, producer, DJ, and label owner, having founded Gondwana
Records in 2008. Halsall’s playing style is influenced by classic 1960s British
jazz and transcendental, spiritual, and modal artists such as Pharoah Sanders,
Miles Davis, and Alice Coltrane. He founded his own label, Gondwana Records, and
released his debut album, Sending My Love, in 2008. He followed that up with his
