(Mayday)
One of the most commercially- and critically-acclaimed rock bands of the
Chinese-speaking world, Mayday formed in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1997. Vocalist Ashin
(Chen Shin-Hung), bassist Masa (Tsai Shen-Yen), drummer Guan You (Liu Yeh-Ming),
and guitarists Monster (Eugene Wen Shang-Yi) and Stone (Shi Chin-Hang) released
the band's debut, Mayday's First Album, in 1999, with Ashin writing the album's
songs in a combination of Mandarin and Hokkien languages. The sophomore album
Viva Love arrived one year later, earning the group the inaugural honor of "Best
Band" at the Golden Melody Award...
