Led by charismatic frontman Frankie Berverly, Maze was born in Philadelphia in
1970. Born in the same city on December 6, 1946, the singer trained in church
while listening to the doo-wop bands of the late 1950s. A member of The
Silhouettes from the age of twelve, he went on to form The Blenders and The
Butlers, which recorded for Kenny Gamble's label, before forming Raw Soul with
