Japanese all-female idol group NMB48 (read "N.M.B. Forty-eight") were first
created in 2010 as the second sister group to AKB48, produced by Yasushi
Akimoto, and take their name from their home in the Namba district in Osaka city
of Osaka Prefecture. They stepped out with their debut single "Zetsumetsu
Kurokami Shoujo" in July 2011 which shot to the top of Japan's Oricon chart. The
third generation of NMB48 was announced in February 2012 and the fourth
generation in December 2012. They have since racked up a string of number one
