Best known for his time as a member of Manchester rock band Oasis, Noel
Gallagher's music career began in the late 1980s as a roadie for fellow
northerners the Inspiral Carpets. But, in the wake of a hectic touring schedule
with the band, Gallagher found himself back on his home turf and joining his
younger brother Liam's Beatles-inspired band The Rain - later renamed Oasis.
Keen to make his mark, the elder of the two siblings soon took the lead, writing
