Otto Serge accompanied his father playing guacharaca (a type of percussion
instrument) with the contemporary songs of the composer Rafael Escalona. Later
he moved to Cartagena to study and it was there that he met his long term
partner, Rafael Ricardo in a bar called La Piragua where they both used to sing.
They began recording together in 1979 but only after Rafael Mejía, the owner of
the Codiscos record label, brought them together in the studio to record and
release 'Mi Sentimiento'.
