With more than 15 million record sales to her credit as a solo artist the
Mexican pop diva Paulina Rubio is considered to be one of the world's most
influential Latin performers. Rubio was born in Mexico City in 1971 and started
her career in 1982 after joining the teen pop group Timbiriche and became one of
a number of Mexican celebrities such as Edith Márquez and Thalía who used the
band as a springboard to launch successful future careers.
