Viewed at the time as Britain's answer to the Everley Brothers, Peter and Gordon
were a folk-oriented pop duo swept along with the vanguard of the British
Invasion. Their 1964 debut single, A World Without Love was a Beatles-style
ballad which gave the English duo a number one in the US and UK charts earning
them a gold disc in the process. The song was written by Paul McCartney,
boyfriend of Asher's sister, the actress Jane Asher. The Beatles connection
continued to help the duo's chart success and they had hits with a number of
Lennon-McCartney compositions before parting ways ...
