Born in Newark, New Jersey on May 5, 1975, Raheem DeVaughn is a Grammy-nominated
R&B and neo-soul singer and songwriter. He is the son of jazz cellist Abdul
Wadud and cousin of R&B singer Chrisette Michele. Raised in Maryland, he began
to show interest in music in preschool. Inspired by artists like Babyface, he
began pursuing a musical career while attending college in Baltimore City. He
