Rebekka Bakken
Jazz, blues and pop composer, pianist and performer Rebekka Bakken was born in
Oslo, Norway on April 4, 1970. With a three octave range, Rebekka Bakken is
referred to as a jazz artist, but her mixture of folk, blues, jazz, and pop make
her hard to classify. She studied violin and piano as a child and played in rock
and soul groups in high school, before moving to New York in 1995 to pursue a
career as a professional musician. She met Austrian guitarist Wolfgang Muthspiel
and began to perform and with him, eventually recording three albums together:
