Roberto Blades, born Roberto Blades Bellido de Luna Díaz on July 2, 1962, in
Panama City, is a renowned Panamanian salsa singer and songwriter who built much
of his career in the United States. The younger brother of iconic musician Rubén
Blades, Roberto Blades initially planned to join the U.S. Air Force but
ultimately pursued a path in music. His breakthrough came in 1981 in Miami,
