Born on 20 September 1992 in Azerbaijan, Safura Alizadeh Aliyevais, known
professionally as Safura, rose to fame after winning season eight of national
singing competition Pop Idol in 2009. The following year she represented
Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest, taking her country to 5th place in
the final with the emotive ballad "Drip Drop." She was just 17 years old at the
