Born on February 5, 1971 in Boonville, Missouri, Sara Lynn Evans grew up on a
farm, among seven siblings, of whom she was the eldest. It was a painful
experience that sparked her passion for music. At the age of eight, she was
trapped by a car and suffered multiple fractures to her legs. To pay for her
rehabilitation, she decided to take up singing. At the age of 20, she moved to
Nashville to become a country singer. She recorded her first demos in 1995,
which convinced the artistic directors of RCA Nashville. The label released her
