Founded in Halifax (Nova Scotia), Canada in 1991, Sloan is a Canadian rock band
formed by Chris Murphy (lead vocals/bass), Patrick Pentland (lead guitar), Jay
Ferguson (rhythm guitar) and Andrew Scott (drums). Originally named The Deluxe
Boys, the group changed their name and moved to Toronto, recording their first
EP Peppermint in 1992, releasing it under their own label, Murderecords. Their
debut studio album Smeared was released in January 1993 under Geffen Records,
