Sullivan Fortner
Sullivan Joseph Fortner, born December 29, 1986, in New Orleans, is an acclaimed
American jazz pianist. He began playing piano at four, inspired by church music,
and honed his skills through the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, Oberlin
Conservatory, and Manhattan School of Music. In 2009, he joined vibraphonist
Stefon Harris' band, followed by a pivotal role in Roy Hargrove's quintet from
2010 to 2017. Fortner debuted as a bandleader with Aria (2015) and released
Moments Preserved (2018), blending trio performances with guest appearances.
