The Bamboos are an Australian funk band formed by musician Lance Ferguson in
Melbourne in 2001. Initially a quartet, the band gained recognition and added a
horn section before signing to Tru Thoughts in 2005. After their first album,
Step It Up, in 2006, The Bamboos hired an official singer in the person of Kylie
Auldis. Together, they released two new albums, including Side-Stepper, which
made them a household name outside France in 2008. Album 4 and especially
Medecine Man, released in June 2012, mark a more soulful turn and a much more
open approach to contemporary sounds.
