Call them Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, or simply The Miracles, this rhythm and blues, soul, disco and doo-woop band from Detroit, Michigan, went down in popular music history as the first to be signed to the Tamla Motown label in 1959. Twenty-six Top 10 singles ("Shop Around", "Going To A Go-Go", "You've Really Got A Hold On Me", "The Tears Of A Clown") later, the group faded away in 1972, to make way for the successful solo career of Smokey Robinson.
