The War On Drugs formed in 2005 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, combining the
heartland hooks of Tom Petty with the sweeping, atmospheric guitar heroics of
Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine. This layered rock & roll sound was
originally the brainchild of guitarist Adam Granduciel and multi-instrumentalist
Kurt Vile. After the release of the band's debut album, Wagonweel Blues, in
2008, Kurt Vile left the band in order to focus on his solo career, with 2011's
