Born December 12, 1984 in Hunan, China, mandopop singer Tia Ray followed in the
footsteps of her idols like Beyoncé, fusing R&B and pop and creating an original
sound that made her an international presence. She toiled for nearly a decade as
a backup singer for numerous famous performers before she got her big break
competing on the program The Voice of China in 2012. This gave her the profile
to launch her solo career, which began in earnest with 2014’s Tia. She returned
to television competing in the 2017 season of The Singer where she placed
